Showing off the Awesomeness
I wanted to take a few minutes (I could take a whole hour, but I"m pretty sure that anything over 15 minutes is considered bragging..and nobody likes a bragger) to tell you how incredibly awesome my husband is.
This past weekend, I was one proud wife cheering on my hubby who participated in the Nashville Country Music 1/2 Marathon.
As some of you may know, we are no strangers to half and full marathons. Caleb has even participated in a few triathlons. Awesome right?! I know. Check us out!
The Nashville 1/2 Marathon is our favorite race to run (to date) and has been growing in popularity over the years. This year, over 27,000 people participated in the event (including Sheryl Crow). The course weaves its way through some of the most popular parts of downtown Nashville.
Of course, we couldn't call it the "Country Music" marathon without the 12 bands that perform live throughout the race.
So I wasn't surprised when I saw Caleb run by smiling....

And it's not just the runners who have all of the fun. Being a spectator can be pretty fun too. Check out all of the crazy things I saw...
Yehaw! |
Out of thousands of people, I actually remember this guy from last year. |
It's not a marathon without a sighting of Elvis. (I saw two) |
We salute you Mr. Marathon runner. |
P.F. Chang's race the dragon. If you finished the race before the dragon did, you get a free meal. |
I nominate these guys for best dressed. |
But let's get back to the awesomeness that is my husband. Not only did he finish 13.1 miles in under 2 1/2 hours while making it look effortless..
...he also dedicated his run to the American Cancer Society and pledged to raise $100 for each mile he ran. Please visit his personal page for more information and consider making a contribution to help benefit those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
Congrats to my husband on another milestone completed! I knew you would do an amazing job just like always. Looking forward to running with you soon.

Bigger in Texas

Meghan
Ever heard the saying "Everything is bigger in Texas"? Well I'm here to tell you it's true.
Caleb and I are so lucky to have two amazing sisters who went all out to throw us one Texas sized shower.
They started out with the cutest invitation, which I have come to learn has a very special meaning to the Hartwell family.
Hearts with a whale. Heart-whale. Now say it fast...Hartwell. Don't worry, it took me 3 times to get it. |
Like all good hostesses, they included the nursery color scheme (aqua and orange) in their decorations.
Check out the aqua Peeps! |
This balloon has been waiting 5 years to make an appearance. |
Even their outfits! Now that's dedication!
Gabrey, Rebekah & Leah |
They invited our friends and family from near and far.....
My sorority sister from A&M, Julie |
Our friends Chad & Jill brought this cute little guy. |

They sure do know how to make a pregnant girl happy...
Our friends and family were so generous and thoughtful in their gifts.
I was stopped by two different moms in the airport on the way home telling me how great this swing was. Can't wait to try it! |
Pee Pee Teepees. From what I hear these will come in handy. |
Another whale sighting! See...you're getting the hang of it! |
A cute jacket with fur collar! Perfect for Nashville winters. |
His first Guess outfit. He's going to be one fashionable little dude! |
Caleb and I had such a great time visiting with family and friends and by the end of the night, felt a little like this:
Thank you Leah and Rebekah for throwing us such a great shower!

April Showers...
Posted by
Meghan
..bring all sorts of goodies for Baby H. (and Momma too!)
While my first shower didn't actually occur in April, I decided to go with the title anyway since 1. it sounds better and 2. I'm just now getting around to posting about it. Let's not get hung up on the technicalities, OK?
A few weeks ago, Caleb and I made a quick trip to Florida to visit my Mom and her side of the family. Never to miss an opportunity to throw a good party, Mom decided to host a shower for me (and Baby H of course...since someone keeps reminding me this isn't all about me).
I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with some close family and friends as we oo'ed and ahh'ed over all of the cute baby "stuff".

Seriously...check out how cute this stuff is!
Baby overalls? Yes please! |
One GIANT panda! |
Some Cardinal's gear with a baby sized bat. For decoration of course. |
A custom cradle made especially for Baby H by a family friend. |
And I haven't even mentioned the food. A little bit of all of my favorites!
Cupcakes with pacifiers.... |
...and baby safety pins. |
We spent the rest of the evening taking turns holding the giant panda.....
... and waiting for Baby H to say hello.....
