You can't have your cake and eat it too

I once overheard Mom say that "you can't have your cake and eat it too". At the time I was confused. There was no cake involved, so I knew she was just experiencing a sleep deprived hallucination. Or maybe she was trying to distract me. Either way, you should never bring up cake unless you actually have some and are 100% willing to share.

So I had been waiting exactly 1 year to have a cake of my very own. And I had every intention of eating it too.

I was so excited I could barely sit still. (Thanks to Mom for keeping me focused!)

I could not believe my eyes. This amazing sugary masterpiece was mine...all mine.

This was it. The moment I had been waiting for. I could almost feel the icing between my fingers; the impending sugar rush. Get ready...here I go...

...and that was as far as I got. I totally froze!

All I could think of was that craziness Mom had mentioned about not being able to have your cake and eat it too. What was happening to me?

This could mean only one thing. I have officially grown up. That is the only explanation for my lack of interest in completely destroying the cake.

Who knew that growing up would be so tough?

  1. Remy you are absolutely adorable and deserve to have your cake and eat it too. I'm sorry you had to experience the sometimes hard lessons of life so young. But you can count on Grandma to make you another cake whenever you feel ready to eat it! See you soon. Love, Grandma
