6 Month Surprises

Recently it seems that not a day goes by that Remy doesn't have a new surprise for us.

So what have I been the most surprised about?

Well first I thought it was when he discovered how to get up on his knees and then started to rock. (Time to start baby proofing!)...

but then I knew it was when he could entertain himself in the crib...

I was sure it was when he started eating real food...and liked it...

OK...I finished my dinner..time for dessert!

But was convinced it was when he starting sitting on his own...

Turns out, the biggest surprise wasn't any of these things. What has surprised me most is that each day I find myself more in love with this guy. It doesn't seem possible that I could love him any more than I do at this moment but I know tomorrow I will find one more thing to love about this sweet baby boy of mine.

Missed month 5? Check out the secret post here.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

Just a quick note to remind you of how good I've been this year. (I've even heard Mom say that I'm a little angel when she thought I wasn't listening.)

I know how hard it can be to figure out what a little guy like me might want and figured you could use some suggestions. I've been giving it a lot of thought - you know, in my spare time - and have come up with my top ten list below.

1. Sophie the Giraffe - I've always wanted a pet giraffe and all of my friends at school have one and say she's really great. Plus I promise to feed and walk her.

2. Sassy Developmental Wonder Wheel Station - Mom just started putting me in my highchair while she's in the kitchen "cooking". I have to admit it's a little boring compared to what I'm used to. One of these would definitely make it slightly more bearable.

3. Manhattan Toy Winkel - Look how cool this thing is! And think of all of the things I can do with it, like chew on it...and stretch it...and chew on it...

4. Melissa & Doug Toolbox Fill and Spill - I can't wait to help Dad work on things around the house, however, I'm still working on my coordination skills and am only allowed to supervise. In the meantime, I can practice with this set.

5. Melissa & Doug Caterpillar Grasping Toy - Every little boy needs a pet caterpillar. This is probably the only one Mom will knowingly let me have.

6. Manhattan Toys Farmyard Friends Soft Activity Book - I've always enjoyed a good adventure book.

7. Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes - I'm ready to give this Einstein guy some real competition.

8. Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Stack and Roll Cups - It's either this or some Tupperware containers.

9. VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker -  I may not be ready to walk yet, but when I am, I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get.

10. Lil Melon Knee Pads - Because I need to learn how to crawl before I can walk.

If you are looking to save some time (and give those little elves a well deserved break) you can see my complete wish list here.

I'm sure you're super busy getting your lists in order so I'll keep this short. Please tell Mrs. Claus that I said hi. I'll make sure Mom saves you some of her delicious sugar cookies. You better hurry though, I can't guarantee Bella won't eat them before you get here.

Your Little Buddy,
Remy

P.S. Tell Rudolph that I've been practicing my reindeer riding technique on Bella but I'm not quite ready for the real thing yet. Can we reschedule for next year?

How to pick a pumpkin.

Now that we've had time to recover from our candy comas (some of us took longer than others)...

...it's time to get caught up on some blog posts.

The last you saw of us, we were in the middle of a spooktacular trip to the zoo. Remy was unimpressed, mostly because we wouldn't let him play with the real monkeys. (Not to be mistaken with the monkeys Remy has befriended in the past.)

In addition to costumes and candy, our Fall celebrations would not be complete without a trip to the local pumpkin patch. (Because, let's face it, what Mom passes up the chance for a photo op of her sweetie(s) doing Fall things?!) So out we went, on a beautiful Fall day, to teach Remy the art of picking a pumpkin.

And who would have known that Remy would end up teaching us the proper way to pick a pumpkin?

You taste it, of course!

Yup! It's a keeper (and so are these two!)

Turns out, you can use the same "technique" to determine if the leaves are ready to change...

Happy Fall Y'all!

Lions and Tigers and...Frogs???

Each year the Nashville Zoo hosts the Ghouls at Grassmere event which provides a safe and kid friendly environment for families to go to trick or treating. They have hay rides, games, arts and crafts and even educational sessions about their animals. Oh..and lots (and lots) of candy.

Caleb and I have been volunteering at this even for the past couple of years.

2009 - Erin and Me

2011 - Caleb and Me
We decided to take Remy with us this year, you know, to score some extra candy.

Remy did an excellent job staying in character and even managed a few Ribbits. (Ok, so maybe he just had the hiccups.)

Hope your Halloween is hoppin'!

4 (ish) Months

I had every intention of posting Remy's 4 months pictures on (ok..more like around) Remy's 4 month birthday, but we've been a little busy...

...doing this...

...and this...

We've been running around pulling socks off (so he can find his toes) and putting them back on (because we wouldn't want his cute little toe piggies getting cold). We also spent the first few days flipping Remy back over since he wasn't always amused with laying on his tummy.

But we survived!

And although Remy is still perfecting his sock removal technique, he has mastered the roll over.

He has even been sleeping on his tummy at night, with the approval of our pediatrician of course.

All this time I've been debating if I should wait to post the 4 month pictures with the 5 months pictures because, let's face it, it's almost time for those. #wheredoesthetimego

But I know you've been on pins and needles waiting for this. (You have..right?) So without further ado....

(drumroll please...)

And now for the comparison.....

Unlike last time, you can definitely tell that he's grown. He's a whopping 14 lbs 7.5 oz and 25.5" long. In addition to grabbing at his feet, rolling over and sleeping on his tummy, he's smiling all of the time and just starting to giggle. Such a happy baby!

Remy has not come across anything he doesn't want to put in his mouth. His biggest thrill was the paper at the pediatrician's office.

Where's Remy?
He's even been practicing his riding skills...

Giddyup little doggie.

Naptastic!

Since Remy's arrival, I have learned to love a good nap.

Not for me, of course. I don't have that kind of time.

But a good Remy nap was all I needed to tackle my (growing) list of home improvements.

Like rearranging the living room..

Bella has embraced the idea of napping when the baby naps.  I just couldn't get into it.

..adding floating shelves to the guest bathroom..

..painting the baseboards in the kitchen..

..finding a home for some of my favorite pictures..

..and organizing the office.

It's amazing what you can accomplish in 40 (and sometimes 90) minutes!

And because I'm pretty sure you don't come here to see pictures of my house...

Looks like it's time for another nap...
